Sorry I am just now posting this!
I hosted (along with my Mom) Cortney’s baby shower at the end of January. She is due 2.25.2016.
Like I said before, I used pinterest for inspiration for the shower. I didn’t set out planning a theme or around a certain theme but when it all came together it seems “It’s a Boy!” was a common occurrence. (I am going to be very mad if the baby turns out to be a girl, haha).
I made the invitations on shutterfly and included a taped piece of paper to each one that read;
“One small request that shouldn’t be too hard,
please bring a book instead of a card.
Weather Cat in the Hat or Winnie the Pooh,
You can sign the inside with a note from you.”
This a fun way to build the babies book collection and you can also read the notes to the child as they get older!
Cookies, cupcakes and some cute Hershey kisses!
For the party favors I found these bags at Party City along with the Hershey kisses. I bought the hand sanitizers at Bath and Body works. The M&M’s and dumb dumbs were at Party city and I got the cute idea from Pinterest. (I don’t see any of these items on their website)
We had 1 game and 2 activities. The first was “Guess the poop”. I melted 9 candy bars into 9 different diapers. Let me tell you this is not easy to do. I burned all my fingers and it is time consuming. I put one candy bar per plate, melted it (about 30 seconds but every candy was different) and then scooped it into a diaper that I had already numbered. Have paper and pens for all quests.
Someone had told me about a cute idea of having diapers out and everyone can write a note on them. I bought a cute basket from Home Goods and labeled it. Example and the idea here!
Everyone wrote cute, funny and inappropriate notes on the diapers for Mom and Dad. So maybe the middle of the night diaper changes will be a little bit better! These turned out very cute and it easy to do.
Lastly, Cortney’s mom had found this and printed of 26 pieces of paper (one for each letter of the alphabet).
They will have the letter on top along with a line and the bottom has “Illustrated by”. You pick a letter and draw something! Example, A is for Apple, B is for ball. We collected them all and will make them into a baby book!
Everything was a lot of fun but I am ready for baby Morris to arrive!
