I reached my 200th PB class a few days ago! I am still just as obsessed as when I started. I feel so guilty for missing class. I still get sore. I still shake. I still feel very accomplished after class.
Pure Barre Dayton (my home studio) choose my Mom and I as their February Pure Barre Champions. We are up on the bathroom wall with a few of our thoughts!
To keep things interesting the studio’s change up the warm-up/arm exercises every 3 months or so. Once I finally get good at the last warm-up they go and change it! I am still using 3lb weights but boy is it tough! If you are new I really recommend to start using 2lbs. Big difference in that one pound! The studio recently got 5lbs weights in and I am staying far away, for now.
Thigh exercises are getting tougher always. I think thighs will always be my hardest. My legs just hurt!!
We have also started using what we (clients) call “torture bands”. Remember double tube? Well they are even worse than that. They correct term of “Velcro bands” does not do it any justice.
(I had to search high and low for this picture. They must want to keep the torture a surprise). So we (can) use these horrible things for everything but warm-up and arm exercises. Even though when using these in thighs, seat and abs your arms are working HARD!
I have noticed the most change in my seat (butt). It is more lifted and sculpted. My abs have really started to get stronger. I just need to stop eating for my 6 pack to appear! 🙂
If you have any questions about Pure Barre please ask me! I would be happy to answer any questions, etc. I truly believe in it and think any woman can do it.

Don’t remember double tube? https://alittlethislittlethatx.wordpress.com/2013/06/12/double-tube-at-pure-barre/
I hit my 100th class today at Pure Barre! Funny thing is, so did my mom!
I am even more addicted now than I have been. I will always recommend Pure Barre to anyone and everyone!
Don’t forget to LTB & Tuck! (Lift tone burn)
What is Pure Barre? https://alittlethislittlethatx.wordpress.com/2013/04/30/working-out-can-be-addicting-with-pure-barre/
I am on day 5/5 in a row at Pure Barre today. My body hurts. I had to squeeze in as much as I could before I leave tomorrow for Kiawah!
PB Guilt is a real thing. The quilt of missing 12 days of Pure Barre is really setting in. I honestly feel guilty. So guilty, that I looked up the downtown Charleston studio. That’s 45 minutes away and I think the beach/swimming/biking/tennis will all be way too much fun to leave. I will just remember to tuck :).
So last Friday, Pure Barre had a “Bring on the men” night. It was so fun and very funny. There were 8 guys in the class. They sweated and didn’t have clue what was going on but they were all sore after 🙂 Thanks PB Dayton, please host another men’s night soon.
Megan took my nephew, Jaxon and I took Jordan.
I have not heard from Cortney since yesterday morning. I try not to worry. I am sure she is having fun and I hope she is taking a lot of awesome pictures!
Kiawah tomorrow. CAN.NOT.WAIT.
We have officially started using the dreaded double tube in class.
It looks like this;
And we do new things like this;
It is KILLER!
It adds so much more resistance than before. Plus now the instructor knows if we are cheating because you can see the slack in the tube.

Mom and I were the featured Mother/Daughter duo at Pure Barre yesterday. They will feature a Mother/Daughter for all of this week in honor of Mothers Day next Sunday!
From Pure Barre Dayton’s Facebook Page:
All week we are celebrating our Mothers by featuring a mother/daughter duo who come to lift.tone.burn together.
Meet Alex and Diane Tobey. They have been coming to Pure Barre Dayton since January. They take a few classes together a week and would take more together if their busy schedules allowed. They both love the way class makes them feel strong and energized. Pure Barre has become such a part of their lives that when they are in the same room with a lot of people, they just look at each other and say “tuck, and tuck”!
Thank you Diane and Alex for all of the positive energy you bring to the studio daily!
My tank/pants are from Lulu Lemon. Love Lulu’s but my bank account does not!
Thanks Pure Barre!
I am not one to “have fun” while working out. I hate running, I get bored at the gym and I have no motivation besides trying to look ok in a swimsuit in the summer.
Well in January I discovered Pure Barre. It is a mix of Pilates, Yoga, Plyometrics and Ballet. It is all VERY small movements. So small an inch this way, an inch that way is all you are moving.
I couldn’t walk after my first class and I still can’t walk even after doing it for close to 5 months now. Their moto is to LTB (Lift Tone Burn). This happens every class. You burn between 400-650 calories in a 60 minute class. Your body will shake but boy does it work. You see results after just ten classes. So you come into the room and grab your weights, ball and band. The warm up and Arm exercising is always the same. The different excerisies for your thighs, seat (butt) and abs is up to the instructor.
You start with your warm-up which will make you tired and can’t believe that you have 55 minutes left of class.
You start with Arms. Such a good arm workout using your own weight (planks/push ups, etc) followed by different moves using 2 or 3 pound weights.
Next you move onto thighs. This KILLS me. You do 3 different thigh exercises and it is all tough! Your legs will shake and that is the point! Embrace your Shake!
On to “seat” work..AKA your butt. Two excerises here (per class) and your butt is bound to look amazing! If someone was to walk into class, they would truly think we are not doing anything!
Finally minutes of class are spend on ab work. You spend around 10 minutes on ab exercises. Your abs with shake and it will hurt but it is totally worth it!
That is the bases of Pure Barre! It is so worth it and your first class if FREE! Give it a try. I promise you you will not regret it. Here is the link to their main website. http://purebarre.com/ Click on the left hand side Locations/Schedules/Pricing. You can find the closest Pure Barre Studio to you! Please let me know if you try it! We start our 20 class in 30 days challenge tomorrow (May 1st) at our Pure Barre Dayton Studio! I am nervous 🙂
