Let me know what you thought of the show.

Thank you technology..

Cortney left for Africa on Friday. She arrived on Saturday and made it safely! Whew. I was worried and still am.

Around 4 on Saturday I was just hanging around the house when my phone went off. It was showing someone was “chatting” with me on gmail. I opened the chat and it was Cortney telling me that she had made it safe and if I was by my computer. I hurried and grabbed my computer and signed onto Skype. We skyped for 2.5 hours! It was great and I think it made Cortney fell better. She was in a very scary hotel in Dar Es Salaam. I was the first one she was able to get a hold of so I called Tristan (her fiancé) and her parents! They were all very happy to hear from her. I tried to hold my phone to the computer so they could talk. After all the phone calls I know she was not going to sleep there so I stayed on Skype as long as I could. (She is 7 hours a head of me). We ended up watching the next episode of Life Unexpected (a TV show we watched then it got canceled and we are re-watching it :)). Here is the set up I had going on at home so we could watch together;

Cort
Laptop propped up close to the TV. I had the volume loud so she could hear it. I even had to pause it at one point to run and find an extension cord so that my charger would reach to my laptop!

It was so good talking to her! I am glad she is having more fun now. She has moved out of Dar Es Salaam and is traveling around with Renalda waiting on her work permit to be finished!

I woke up to a G chat from her this morning! Thank goodness because I had not heard from her yesterday. (I was late to work because I was so concentrated on learning what she is doing, etc that it took me forever to get ready.) Plus, she kept saying “only 14 minutes left” so I knew we were on a time crunch. (Have to pay by minute for internet) She is much happy now which I am very thankful for!

Keep up with her; http://www.cortneytakesafrica.wordpress.com. I am thrilled because she is updating! Makes me very happy.

Enjoy your Monday. I am looking forward to my next chat/Skype with Cortney.

The Ellen Degeneres Show

Hope your long weekend was amazing!

I wanted to tell you an awesome thing that happened. On January 29 of this year my Mom and I were headed to LA to be on the ELLEN Show!

E 13

The show called my Dad here at work on January 28 (Monday). No one believed them when they said “This is Ellen from the Ellen DeGeneres Show”. (This was producer Ellen, not the REAL Ellen). They were looking for my Mom. After some convincing, my Dad finally called my mom and told her to call them back. Mom called them back at 5:00 on Monday. Mom and I were on a plane Tuesday morning at 11am headed out to LA.

Why did they want my Mom on the Ellen show?

We meet the sweetest woman at a 2010 Rotary Christmas party who did not sign up in time and had 4 young children at home who were not going to have a Christmas. Mom took their information and we went shopping! We wrapped the presents and took them over to Ry’Shonda when the kids were at school. We have done this every year since. These children are amazing because their mom is even more amazing! They deserve all the best in the world. Ry’Shonda wrote into Ellen about my mom. She said my Mom is her “Angel” and wanted Ellen to give her something. Well Ellen did that and gave Ry’Shonda even more!
