Happy 4th of July!

4th

Happy 4th of July to everyone!

We spend the day at the Beach Club on Kiawah. finally sunny and it turned into a beautiful day!

Hope everyone has a great night. Enojoy the fireworks.

Last PB Class for 12 Days

Sunset. Fernandina Beach, Florida.

I am on day 5/5 in a row at Pure Barre today. My body hurts. I had to squeeze in as much as I could before I leave tomorrow for Kiawah!

PB Guilt is a real thing. The quilt of missing 12 days of Pure Barre is really setting in. I honestly feel guilty. So guilty, that I looked up the downtown Charleston studio. That’s 45 minutes away and I think the beach/swimming/biking/tennis will all be way too much fun to leave. I will just remember to tuck :).

So last Friday, Pure Barre had a “Bring on the men” night. It was so fun and very funny. There were 8 guys in the class. They sweated and didn’t have clue what was going on but they were all sore after 🙂 Thanks PB Dayton, please host another men’s night soon.

Megan took my nephew, Jaxon and I took Jordan.

I have not heard from Cortney since yesterday morning. I try not to worry. I am sure she is having fun and I hope she is taking a lot of awesome pictures!

Kiawah tomorrow. CAN.NOT.WAIT.

Thank you technology..

Cortney left for Africa on Friday. She arrived on Saturday and made it safely! Whew. I was worried and still am.

Around 4 on Saturday I was just hanging around the house when my phone went off. It was showing someone was “chatting” with me on gmail. I opened the chat and it was Cortney telling me that she had made it safe and if I was by my computer. I hurried and grabbed my computer and signed onto Skype. We skyped for 2.5 hours! It was great and I think it made Cortney fell better. She was in a very scary hotel in Dar Es Salaam. I was the first one she was able to get a hold of so I called Tristan (her fiancé) and her parents! They were all very happy to hear from her. I tried to hold my phone to the computer so they could talk. After all the phone calls I know she was not going to sleep there so I stayed on Skype as long as I could. (She is 7 hours a head of me). We ended up watching the next episode of Life Unexpected (a TV show we watched then it got canceled and we are re-watching it :)). Here is the set up I had going on at home so we could watch together;

Cort
Laptop propped up close to the TV. I had the volume loud so she could hear it. I even had to pause it at one point to run and find an extension cord so that my charger would reach to my laptop!

It was so good talking to her! I am glad she is having more fun now. She has moved out of Dar Es Salaam and is traveling around with Renalda waiting on her work permit to be finished!

I woke up to a G chat from her this morning! Thank goodness because I had not heard from her yesterday. (I was late to work because I was so concentrated on learning what she is doing, etc that it took me forever to get ready.) Plus, she kept saying “only 14 minutes left” so I knew we were on a time crunch. (Have to pay by minute for internet) She is much happy now which I am very thankful for!

Keep up with her; http://www.cortneytakesafrica.wordpress.com. I am thrilled because she is updating! Makes me very happy.

Enjoy your Monday. I am looking forward to my next chat/Skype with Cortney.

Lake Trip with friends

Last weekend a bunch of us went to Devils Lake in Michigan. My friend, Ashley’s family has a lake house.

We had such a good time boating, jet skiing, drinking and floating!

The lake provided for some GREAT sunset pictures. I took maybe 40 but tried to pick just a select few 🙂

RIP Zach Sobiech

Zach

Rest in Peace Zach Sobiech. Cancer claimed another young life.

Zach passed away on Monday 5/20/2013. He was 18. You may recognize Zach.

He made this now famous video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDC97j6lfyc This is his song, “Clouds”. He wrote and performed this after hearing he only had months to live.

This was a documentary made on Zach, http://www.upworthy.com/this-kid-just-died-what-he-left-behind-is-wondtacular-rip?g=2 . Seriously, what a GREAT person. I wish I could have met him. I am sorry Zach. Sorry that the Cancer world failed you. This is a must watch. You will not regret it.

Some awesome people made this happen, all for Zach. Celebrity music video for “Clouds”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zxXAtmmLLc

To Zach’s family; I am very sorry. Please know that he was such an inspiration to a lot of people. He made everyone a better person.

Huffington Post article on Zach; http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/zach-sobiech-18yearold-cl_n_3312838.html

We a need awareness. We need more money. We need more research. We need a CURE.

Please let Zach inspire you.

Finally the weekend

Happy Friday!

It is finally almost the weekend. I am excited. This week has gone by slow and I am ready for a break from work. AKA a few drinks tonight sounds perfect!

I wore my Rockstar Ronan bracelet today. Always makes me feel good. Maybe because it say Fu*k You Cancer on it. If you don’t know who Ronan is, please look up his mom’s blog. He was 3 when he died from Stage 4 Neuroblastoma Cancer. He makes me want to do better and be a better person everyday. Plus he is the most gorgeous child I have ever seen. He didn’t have to die. Need awareness and more funding! RockstarRonan.com.
