Hope your long weekend was amazing!
I wanted to tell you an awesome thing that happened. On January 29 of this year my Mom and I were headed to LA to be on the ELLEN Show!
The show called my Dad here at work on January 28 (Monday). No one believed them when they said “This is Ellen from the Ellen DeGeneres Show”. (This was producer Ellen, not the REAL Ellen). They were looking for my Mom. After some convincing, my Dad finally called my mom and told her to call them back. Mom called them back at 5:00 on Monday. Mom and I were on a plane Tuesday morning at 11am headed out to LA.
Why did they want my Mom on the Ellen show?
We meet the sweetest woman at a 2010 Rotary Christmas party who did not sign up in time and had 4 young children at home who were not going to have a Christmas. Mom took their information and we went shopping! We wrapped the presents and took them over to Ry’Shonda when the kids were at school. We have done this every year since. These children are amazing because their mom is even more amazing! They deserve all the best in the world. Ry’Shonda wrote into Ellen about my mom. She said my Mom is her “Angel” and wanted Ellen to give her something. Well Ellen did that and gave Ry’Shonda even more!
Watch the clip here! http://www.ellentv.com/2013/01/31/a-heartwarming-surprise-for-ryshonda/
We were only in LA for 2 days. We made the most of it! Stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel right on Hollywood Blvd! It was such a great experience!

Watch what Ellen did for Ry’Shonda and her 4 children. AMAZING!
Be kind to one another 🙂
Rest in Peace Zach Sobiech. Cancer claimed another young life.
Zach passed away on Monday 5/20/2013. He was 18. You may recognize Zach.
He made this now famous video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDC97j6lfyc This is his song, “Clouds”. He wrote and performed this after hearing he only had months to live.
This was a documentary made on Zach, http://www.upworthy.com/this-kid-just-died-what-he-left-behind-is-wondtacular-rip?g=2 . Seriously, what a GREAT person. I wish I could have met him. I am sorry Zach. Sorry that the Cancer world failed you. This is a must watch. You will not regret it.
Some awesome people made this happen, all for Zach. Celebrity music video for “Clouds”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zxXAtmmLLc
To Zach’s family; I am very sorry. Please know that he was such an inspiration to a lot of people. He made everyone a better person.
Huffington Post article on Zach; http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/zach-sobiech-18yearold-cl_n_3312838.html
We a need awareness. We need more money. We need more research. We need a CURE.
Please let Zach inspire you.
So true. No excuses.
Well we are officially halfway through our 20 class challenge. The challenge is to complete 20 classes in the month of May. As of May 15 I have done 11 classes which means I am ahead of schedule! If I stick to my normal class scheduled days then I have the potential to complete 22 classes this month. I really don’t know if my legs can handle that.
My poor legs hurt all the time!
Pure Barre is unlike any other workout I have ever done! It is so challenging but yet doesn’t look challenging at all. It is the smallest of movements that focus so strongly on those specific muscles (arms, butt, legs and abs) in which your mind body connection has to be strong.
I have become addicted. I look forward to going to class and giving it my all. I have noticed changes in my body and I think that is a huge motivation! My seat (butt) is lifted, my arms are sculpted and my stomach is looking flatter. I can’t wait to see the results after I complete all my classes this month. I plan to continue the 5/6 days a week into June so that I look even better for our summer trip to Kiawah. Maybe I will even get brave enough to post a picture of me in a bathing suit in June. I plan on looking like Gisele (Bundchen) haha
If this is a cookie, I really want to eat it. I can eat it while tucking if that makes it any better.
Start Today! http://www.purebarre.com Your first class is FREE!! Please let me know if you try PB. It will take a few classes for your to really “get it” so don’t quit!
If you missed my original PB post that gives a little more detail; https://alittlethislittlethatx.wordpress.com/2013/04/30/working-out-can-be-addicting-with-pure-barre/
Don’t forget to Lift.Tone.Burn & Embrace Your Shake!
Jack Hoffman is 7. He was diagnosed with brain cancer on April 22, 2011 after suffering a Grand Mal seizure. He has had two major brain surgery’s. He is currently on a 60 week chemo regimen. After the first surgery, he asked to meet his favorite Nebraska Cornhusker, runningback Rex Burkhead. No one knew it would turn into one the greatest sports friendships anyone has seen.
They became fast friends. Rex said he knew once they met he would be a part of Jacks life forever. Rex ran for TD’s and Jack received chemo. Although they were many miles apart, Rex kept Jack close wearing his “Team Jack, Pray” bracelet during his games in Nebraska. When asked about Rex in an interview, Jack simply said “He is my best friend.”
Jack became an ESPN/Internet sensation when he ran for a 69 yard TD in the Nebraska spring football game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPj7nI4MCnQ No one told those players to clear the benches and meet Jack in the end zone. They just did. When asked about how scoring the TD felt, Jack said “Super Duper Awesome”. Rex was there, watching from the sideline. He graduated and was waiting for the draft in April.
Thank you Rex for bringing awareness to pediatric cancer. You are doing so much more than you think. The Hoffman’s and Rex recently went to meet President Obama in the White House because Obama saw Jack on ESPN’s top 10. (Jack was #1 on the Top 10).
Jack’s Family outside of the White House
This story is even better because MY Cincinnati Bengals drafted Rex in the 6 round. We need him. The city of Cincinnati needs Rex. On and off the field. Cincinnati welcomes Team Jack with open arms.
The Bengals announced the official signing of Rex Burkhead on 5/13/2013 with head Coach Marvin Lewis saying he hopes Rex will have a key role on the offense! Bring on Team Jack to Cincinnati! http://www.cincyjungle.com/2013/5/13/4327210/bengals-announce-signings-of-rex-burkhead-sean-porter-terrence

Oh and Jack, can you help me out with something? Is Rex single? He is pretty cute 🙂
You are the best. Truly the best. You have inspired me each and every day and I thank you for that. You are the strongest, smartest and best man in the whole world. You have worked your ass off to give us everything and for that I am so thankful. I hope you enjoy your day. I love you so much.
I fell in love with Ronan when Taylor Swfit sang her song “Ronan” at Stand Up to Cancer in 2012. Children deserve so much more. He has inspired me.
I wanted to come up with a plan to take fun items to the patients at Children’s Hospital. After some convincing and emailing back in forth with a few people I finally got the A Okay.
My neice, Riley and I arrived at Dayton Children’s Hospital and had to put together our “goodie” cart!
We had a mix of books, coloring books, crayons, magazines and stuffed animals! We also had some flowers to give to the mom’s for Mother’s Day.
We met about 15 children and their families. Started on the onclogy floor where we met some little fighters! After we finsihed there we made our way down to the 3rd floor and met some other sweet faces. We smiled, talked and handed out items that the kids would love. It was such a pleasure to meet those amazing children who are fighting a long hard battle!
Riley and I will go back with more stuff than last and bigger smiles on our faces than before. They all deserve it.
I am a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds. I went to my first Reds game when I was barely 2 weeks old. (My parents are obviously crazy).
I enjoy the atmosphere of being in Great American Ballpark. Of course, like every fan, I want my Redlegs to win all the games and most of the time, they don’t. I am a Cincinnati fan and anyone who knows Cincinnati knows we most likely will lose more often than win. The perks of rooting for any Cincinnati team. I am always proud of the Reds, win or lose. Now I am more proud to call myself a fan.
Teddy Kremer. A 30 year old man with down syndrome. Loves the Reds more than anything! Well the Reds have fallen in love with Teddy. He became the honoree bat boy on Aug 17, 2012. Normally the guest batboy is between 15-19 years old. Luckily the Reds fell in love with Teddy and had to have him in the bullpen!
This is the article that was published on Teddy. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120915/NEWS10/309150118/Ted-joined-Reds-day-changed-team-forever
He was recently the batboy again. This time gaining national attention after he told Todd Frazier to hit a homerun and guess what? Todd did. Teddy’s excitement was amazing. He was more excited than Todd. So excited in fact that he forgot to get his bat from home plate and the ump had to tell him to come get it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/19/teddy-reds-batboy-cheers-_n_3114231.html
Anytime Teddy is in the bullpen, the Reds seem to win. The Cincinnati Reds good luck charm.
These are the sporting moments that ESPN should be focusing on. This is what being a sports fan is all about. Teddy has forever changed the Reds and I hope given all of you a new perspective.
Happy May and let’s go Reds! (And Teddy).
