It’s been awhile….

TKG.

It has been a long time since I have written anything!

I am currently planning my best friends Bachelorette Party and Bridal Shower! Being the MOH is a lot of work. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I can not wait to share pictures and ideas that I used for both parties!

I am a very strong supporter of Childhood Cancer awareness and Maya Thompson is getting ready to run a marathon (without training because she is a badass) all while raising money for The Ronan Thompson Foundation. She is a little under $5000 short of her goal with only 12 days left! $10 is a minimum donation and ANY amount helps. Thank you advance.

I will try to keep up a little more!

Again, send me your ideas for a bachelorette party and/or bridal shower! 🙂

Family Pictures by LB Photography

Lori (LB Photography) and I had planned to meet up in November 2012 to have our family pictures done! Well that day didn’t quite work out so we finally found time again a few weeks ago.

We looked at a few color options/poses on Pinterest. We knew we had to find some good poses considering we had 14 people! Here were a few poses Lori had pinned on pinterest for our big family: http://pinterest.com/LBBoutique12/family-photo-shoot/

We decided on blue/tan/white with a little bit of pink added in! (Love these colors and we both agreed they would look nice all together). Lori said we need some patterns to be added in so it wouldn’t be so plain. Stripes, plaid, layers it was! It was stressful trying to coordinate 14 peoples outfits but staying on the color scheme we just had to make sure we didn’t have too many stripes/etc.

They came AMAZING!! We did 2 group shots followed by each individual family.

The Way Way Back

Oh another good movie weekend. I have been waiting for this one to come out. The previews for it caught my attention!

I went to see “The Way Way Back” this past Friday night. I LOVED it. It is funny, sweet, sad and exciting all at the same time. Plus you get to see Steve Carell in a whole new light.

Way way back

Plot: 14-year-old Duncan’s summer vacation with his mother, her overbearing boyfriend, and his daughter. Having a rough time fitting in, Duncan finds an unexpected friend in Owen, manager of the Water Wizz water park.

Hope everyone has a great night. Enojoy the fireworks.

Finally heard from Cortney!

Cortneys mom has sent me a few text saying she has talked to Cortney a few time over the course of 4 days. I had not heard from her until today!

She made it to the lake where she will doing her research. She posted a picture on her blog and it is gorgeous.

I told her to be safe over there with all those wild animals and I ended up getting stung by a stingray yesterday and had to go to urgent care/er last night. Moat painful thing I have ever experience in my life. I got a shot and have to take antibiotics for the next week. Feeling much better now!

Book

Nothing better than reading a good book on the beach in the sun.

Thank you technology..

Cortney left for Africa on Friday. She arrived on Saturday and made it safely! Whew. I was worried and still am.

Around 4 on Saturday I was just hanging around the house when my phone went off. It was showing someone was “chatting” with me on gmail. I opened the chat and it was Cortney telling me that she had made it safe and if I was by my computer. I hurried and grabbed my computer and signed onto Skype. We skyped for 2.5 hours! It was great and I think it made Cortney fell better. She was in a very scary hotel in Dar Es Salaam. I was the first one she was able to get a hold of so I called Tristan (her fiancé) and her parents! They were all very happy to hear from her. I tried to hold my phone to the computer so they could talk. After all the phone calls I know she was not going to sleep there so I stayed on Skype as long as I could. (She is 7 hours a head of me). We ended up watching the next episode of Life Unexpected (a TV show we watched then it got canceled and we are re-watching it :)). Here is the set up I had going on at home so we could watch together;

Cort
Laptop propped up close to the TV. I had the volume loud so she could hear it. I even had to pause it at one point to run and find an extension cord so that my charger would reach to my laptop!

It was so good talking to her! I am glad she is having more fun now. She has moved out of Dar Es Salaam and is traveling around with Renalda waiting on her work permit to be finished!

I woke up to a G chat from her this morning! Thank goodness because I had not heard from her yesterday. (I was late to work because I was so concentrated on learning what she is doing, etc that it took me forever to get ready.) Plus, she kept saying “only 14 minutes left” so I knew we were on a time crunch. (Have to pay by minute for internet) She is much happy now which I am very thankful for!

Keep up with her; http://www.cortneytakesafrica.wordpress.com. I am thrilled because she is updating! Makes me very happy.

Enjoy your Monday. I am looking forward to my next chat/Skype with Cortney.
